Welcome

My name is Erik Millett, and I am a freelance bassist, private bass instructor and recording engineer with particular interest in World Music and Jazz. You may know me from my work with the traditional Brazilian Samba band, Sonho Meu, or as the bassist of the West African World Fusion band “MAMADOU“.

I love all music, but am particularly fond of R&B, Funk, Fusion, Jazz, Reggae, Hindustani, African, Brazilian, and Latin. I play Bass Guitar as well as Upright String Bass, and I also study and perform on various ethnic and cultural instruments such as Djembe, Sabar, Djun-Djun, Conga, Tabla and Sitar. My primary musical interest is Ethnomusicology and Music Education, and I am also actively involved in Music Production and Performance.

I’ve been fortunate to be an attendee at bass clinics throughout the U.S., including Gerald Veasley’s Bass Bootcamp and Victor Wooten’s Bass/Nature Camp. I’ve met, studied, laughed, and shared with some incredible players at these clinics who continue to inspire me to push beyond my own personal boundaries.
